I am also thankful to the dozens of lawyers who have offered their pro bono assistance in the pursuit of truth and justice.

I respectfully ask the public to refrain from commenting on this matter, as it will be addressed through the legal process.

CONDEMNATION OF INCIDENT AT BUKIT GASING SIVAN TEMPLE

We strongly condemn the recent incident at Bukit Gasing Sivan Temple that has circulated widely on social media. The confrontation involving individuals within the temple premises is deeply troubling and entirely unacceptable, particularly in a sacred space meant to uphold peace, respect, and spiritual discipline.

Places of worship must remain open, accessible, and welcoming to all members of society. They are sanctuaries meant to promote unity, harmony, and moral values. Any form of dispute, confrontation, or inappropriate conduct within such spaces is a serious violation of their sanctity and undermines the purpose for which they exist.

Temples, in particular, should stand as symbols of calm, tolerance, and ethical leadership. The incident in question reflects a failure to uphold these principles and has caused public concern and disappointment. Such actions not only tarnish the reputation of the institution involved but also cast a negative light on religious spaces more broadly.

Individuals entrusted with leadership or responsibility within places of worship must be held to the highest standards of conduct. Leadership in a religious institution demands maturity, accountability, and respect for the community it serves. Those who are unable to demonstrate these values should step aside and allow others who are capable of leading with integrity and wisdom to take responsibility.

We call upon the relevant authorities and temple management to address this matter decisively and to implement appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Places of worship must never become platforms for personal conflicts or displays of disrespect.

This incident should serve as a firm reminder that sacred spaces belong to the community and must be protected as environments of peace, dignity, and spiritual reflection at all times.

I wish to express my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family of the late Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, who passed away this morning at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

The late Datuk Seri G. Palanivel was a respected leader who contributed significantly to the nation, particularly in championing the rights of the Indian community and in the field of environmental governance during his tenure as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment. His legacy as the former President of MIC and a voice for the people will long be remembered.

May his family find strength and comfort in this time of sorrow. The nation mourns the loss of a dedicated and principled statesman.
