When a Label Is Sewn On, the Piece Feels Complete

The studio was quiet today,
filled only with the sound of scissors, fabric, and sewing.

Cotton-linen labels were carefully cut,
printed with the KYO name,
folded gently,
and sewn onto the pants I made by hand.

These small fabric labels
are more than just tags.
They feel like a soft confirmation —
you’re ready to be part of someone’s everyday life.

This collection is slowly coming together.
Very soon, it will be ready to meet you.
I’ll be sharing more, gently and in my own time.

缝上名字的那一刻，作品就完整了

今天的桌面很安静，
只听得到剪刀、布料和车缝的声音。

棉麻布一张张裁好，
印上属于 KYO 的名字，
再慢慢对折、缝合，
最后把它们缝在我亲手做的裤子上。

这些小小的布标，
不只是标记，
而是我对作品的确认——
「你已经准备好，去陪伴别人了。」

这一批作品，
正在一点一点完成中。
很快，就会和大家见面了。

From Fabric to a Pair of Shorts

After finishing the lantern pants,
I started working on another piece —
a Batik Terap Marble shorts.

Joining fabric panels together,
then gently marking the lines with a pencil,
preparing for the next round of sewing.

These slow, quiet steps
are where the garment begins to take shape.

In the photos,
the finished shorts with the KYO label
started from these simple fabric pieces too.

This is how handmade works —
slowly turning cloth
into something that can be worn and lived with.

从布片到短裤的一天

继灯笼长裤之后，
我开始制作另一款 Batik Terap Marble 短裤。

一块一块把布片拼接起来，
再用铅笔在布面上轻轻画下记号，
为下一轮车缝做准备。

这些看起来很细碎、很慢的步骤，
其实正是衣服开始有形状的时候。

照片里那件已经完成、
挂着 KYO 布标的短裤，
就是从这些平平无奇的布片开始的。

手作的过程，
就是这样一点一点，
把布变成可以被穿着、被陪伴的东西。

The Moment They Were All Finished

I finally hung them all up today —
a full series of Batik Terap Marble lantern pants.

Standing there, looking at them quietly,
I felt a small rush of excitement,
and a gentle sense of accomplishment.

Each piece was made slowly —
from choosing the fabric, cutting, sewing,
to letting every pattern fall into its own rhythm.

They’re all different,
yet connected by the same Malaysian batik tradition.

It’s not the feeling of “finally finished,”
but the feeling of seeing something
I once imagined
now existing, softly, in front of me.

I wanted to keep this moment.
For myself,
and for the time stitched into every piece.

一整排完成的那一刻｜我的 Batik 灯笼长裤

这一刻，
把一整排 Batik Terap Marble 灯笼长裤挂好，
站在前面看了好一会儿。

从选布、裁剪、拼接、车缝，
一条一条慢慢完成，
过程其实并不快，也不轻松。

但当它们整齐地站在一起，
不同的纹理、颜色、节奏，
却都来自同一种马来西亚的 batik 工艺。

心里有点小激动，
也有一种很安静的小小成就感。

不是因为“做完了”，
而是因为我真的把脑海里的画面，
一步一步，做成了真实存在的作品。

今天想把这一刻记下来。
给未来的自己，也给这些布与时间。

One Quiet Step Forward

Getting ready to head out.
In my hands are the lantern pants fabric pieces I cut earlier today.

Pattern drafted by myself,
fabric cut by myself.
Now I drive to a tailoring supply shop near my home
to have the raw edges overlocked.

Arriving at the shop,
the hum of the overlock machine fills the space.
Threads, buttons, and beads hang quietly along the walls.

The fabric pieces are guided under the needle, one by one.
Raw edges slowly become neat and secure.
Hands steady, fabric moving forward.

This step may seem small,
but it’s where the piece begins to feel whole.

From paper pattern,
to fabric,
to stitches that hold everything together.

By the end of the day,
one quiet step is completed. 🧵🌿

安静地，往前一步

准备出门。
手里提着的，是今天刚裁剪好的灯笼裤布片。

自己画版、自己裁剪，
接下来要开车到住家附近的裁缝用品店，
把边锁好。

抵达后，
锁边机开始运转，
线轴、纽扣、珠子安静地挂在墙上。

布片一块一块送进机器里，
原本裸露的边缘，
慢慢被收齐、固定。

看着布料在手中前进，
缝线一针一线把形状稳住，
这一步虽然不起眼，
却让作品开始有了“完成中的感觉”。

从纸样，
到布，
再到把一切连在一起的线。

一整天，就这样，
完成了一小步。 🧵🌿
