There are three roles in a web service architecture:
- Service provider, service requester and service registry.

The figure below explains the architecture of a web service:

- Firstly, the service provider publishes a service description to a
service registry.
- Second, A service requester then finds the service description via
the service registry. The services description contains sufficient
information for the service requester to bind to the service provider
to use the service.
