During one of our recent ocean safari days in the Sea of Cortez with we had the ultimate surprise, s***m whales, lots of them!

We came across this beautiful pod calmly cruising the channel between Isla Cerralvo & mainland Baja California Sur near La Ventana. S***m whales frequent this area for the deep canyons that provide food (squid & fish). They can dive up to 3,000 feet to hunt in the deep dark waters.

They come up to the surface to rest and breathe in these sheltered and calm waters, offering a great place to recover and raise their babies.

Words can’t describe the surprise & awe when we carefully slid into the water and saw mom with baby come into view along with other females! Little did we know, our other boat also captured the moment from above. Thank You . Many tears of joy were shed in our masks! 🥹🥰🤩
