Three Market Expos downโ€ฆ and our young entrepreneurs are refusing to stay โ€œsmall-scaleโ€

Through the Green Jobs for Adolescents and Youth Project, funded by Save the Children Italy, CRECCOM in partnership with Save the Children Malawi and Emerge Livelihoods successfully hosted the third Market Expo at Manjawira Trading Centre in Ntcheu District.

The Expo brought together 25 young entrepreneurs who have now graduated from business incubation to real community businesses โ€” from solar power installation services to delicious home-baked treats that were giving people serious โ€œjust one more biteโ€ problems

Sub-T/A Tsikulamowa applauded the project for creating opportunities for young people and encouraged beneficiaries to stay committed to growing their enterprises and creating opportunities for others.

One inspiring participant, Janet Matewere, a young mother caring for her child and two siblings, shared how her business is helping support her family.

โ€œLife is not easy, but my business is helping me take care of my family, and I believe this Expo will bring me even more customers,โ€ she said.

The Market Expo is part of the projectโ€™s post-incubation support aimed at strengthening market linkages and helping youth-led enterprises grow stronger roots in their communities.

This week, under the Social Protection for Gender Empowerment and Resilience (SP-GEAR) Project funded by the European Union and the Government of Ireland through UNICEF, CRECCOM conducted coaching and mentorship sessions for female-led enterprises as well as Savings and Loans groups in Mzimba North, Mzimba South, and Zomba.

The sessions aimed at strengthening business management skills, promoting financial discipline, and building the confidence of women entrepreneurs to sustainably grow their businesses. This support is especially important following the provision of seed capital, as it helps ensure that beneficiaries are able to effectively invest, manage, and expand their enterprises for long-term resilience and improved livelihoods.

Picture excerpts capture moments from the mentorship and coaching activities across the three districts.
