The Gambia is transforming HIV care through a client-centred approach that makes treatment more accessible, convenient and integrated.

Led by the Ministry of Health with support from WHO and UNAIDS, differentiated service delivery is helping reduce barriers to HIV treatment by offering flexible clinic hours, integrated care, multi-month medication dispensing and improved counselling. The approach has reduced waiting times, strengthened treatment adherence and improved patient privacy.

Since its rollout, more than 1,000 people have started HIV treatment through the model, demonstrating how people-focused healthcare can improve outcomes and strengthen the country's HIV response.

Algeria is strengthening its upstream investment strategy by opening new licensing opportunities and creating a more competitive environment for oil and gas investors.

While Algeria and Angola have different energy landscapes, Angola’s regulatory reforms offer useful lessons. In Crude Oil: Power, Turnaround and Transformation in Angola, African Energy Chamber Executive Chairman NJ Ayuk highlights how reforms such as establishing the ANPG, introducing flexible licensing and offering targeted fiscal incentives helped unlock billions of dollars in upstream investment.

As Algeria looks to maximize production from mature fields and expand exploration in frontier basins, policy certainty, transparent regulation and investor-friendly licensing could play a key role in attracting long-term capital and accelerating project development.
