WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY 2025

Today, 20th November 2025 , we at STEP UP Organisation join the rest of the world in celebrating children — their voices, their experiences, and their rights.

At STEP UP, we walk side by side with children with developmental delays and other neurological conditions, ensuring they are included, supported, and heard. Through our Community-Based Rehabilitation, Family Empowerment, Inclusive Education and Rights Advocacy, we witness every day how children’s voices can shape a better and brighter future.

This year’s theme, “My Day, My Rights,” reminds us that:

1. Every child has the right to receive health services, medical care, and rehabilitation services.
2. Every child has the right to participate.
3. Every child has the right to be listened to.
4. Every child’s day should be filled with respect, inclusion, and opportunities.

As we celebrate World Children’s Day, we invite parents, community leaders, and our partners to continue working with us to build a community where every child can proudly say: “My Day, My Rights.”

✨ Empowering Every Step: Progress from Our Community-Based Rehabilitation Project ✨

With support from Mudzi Connect, Step Up Malawi is transforming the lives of children with developmental delays(disabilities) in Ndirande. Through this project, we are producing and distributing child-tailored assistive devices, equipping our physiotherapy clinic and training caregivers in home-based rehabilitation.

So far, over 70 assistive devices which include walkers, standing frames, adaptive seats and wheelchairs have been produced and distributed to children who need them most. Many children who once struggled to sit or stand are now taking their first supported steps, moments that bring hope and joy to their families. In addition, 30 mothers and caregivers have been trained in home-based rehabilitation techniques, empowering them to continue therapy and support their children’s development every day.

We are grateful to our local artisans, community volunteers, and caregivers whose dedication continues to make this change possible. Together, we are building mobility, independence, and dignity for children with developmental delays.

We've been busy behind the scenes at Step Up, working hard to support our amazing kids in Ndirande, Blantyre!
