There’s a place in the north of the Maldives where the land breathes through its roots.
Kendhikulhudhoo isn’t defined by the open sea the way the rest of our islands are. It’s defined by water that stays — seven living wetlands, the kulhi, holding the island together from the inside. As the nation’s most extensive stretch of mangrove, this is where the kandoo stand in the shallows, where birds nest, where the tide moves slow, and where a community has grown up alongside an ecosystem instead of on top of it.
When we began this journey in 2023, the question wasn’t “how do we make another island look beautiful.” Every island here is already beautiful. The question was: how do we let a place speak in its own voice, inside a brand the whole world already thinks it knows?
So we listened to the wetlands.
Introducing the brand identity for Kendhikulhudhoo — of the Maldives. An identity rooted in greenery instead of just blue, in the quiet ecosystems that sustain a people, and in a story that belongs to this island and no other.
