🌍 Gendered Voices | Women Advancing Marine Ecosystems Protection in Mauritius and Seychelles
🌊 Marie Esteese Larose is a community member and marine conservation advocate from Mourouk, Rodrigues 🇲🇺, whose work reflects the vital role of local communities in restoring and protecting ocean ecosystems.
🐠 Living a life closely connected to the sea, she contributes to coral reef restoration efforts under the UNDP‑Adaptation Fund project, working alongside Shoals Rodrigues to rehabilitate degraded reefs within the South East Marine Protected Area. From maintaining coral nurseries to supporting transplantation and monitoring activities, her daily work helps bring marine ecosystems back to life.
💙 A passionate advocate for community‑led action, she advances SDGs 14 (Life Below Water) 🌊, 13 (Climate Action) 🌍 and 1 (No Poverty) 🤝 — demonstrating how local leadership is essential to building sustainable and resilient coastal livelihoods.
