We are all saddened by the demise of Dr Bruno Cheong, who was on the frontline. It is indeed a great loss for Mauritius, and the doctors community in this fight against COVID-19.

Our family have known this great doctor and human being.

This man, respected by all his colleagues and appreciated by his very many patients, was above all a professional with integrity who loved his job. Throughout his career, Dr. Cheong has been a staunch servant of the state, working in turn in all regional hospitals in the country. At the Flacq hospital where he worked for many years, as at the Darné clinic where he had become an essential figure, he will leave a huge void. But it will always be a reference, an example of what a doctor should be.

Our family would like to express our sincere sympathy to the family of Dr Cheong. My deepest condolences to Mr André Cheong his father who will turn out to be 100 very soon.

We will never forget you & your kindness.
Thank you doctor, neighbour and a friend. Rest in peace, dear friend.
