: Fruitful Exchange on Prison Reforms with newly appointed Commissioner of Prisons

President Gokhool welcomed the newly appointed Commissioner of Prisons, Mr Rashid Ali Beekun, for a productive exchange at State House.

The overall situation in prisons was reviewed, with a focus on both operational and strategic aspects of prison administration.

President Gokhool took note of ongoing efforts within the system, as well as critical areas requiring further strengthening to enhance efficiency, discipline, and security.

Emphasis was also placed on the importance of rehabilitation and skills development programmes for detainees, aimed at supporting reintegration into society and reducing recidivism.
