The curtain has fallen on the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2026 in Kalutara (Sri Lanka) and Bruno Burbach has managed to win the bronze medal in the Senior (Over 60 years) category, in both the Open and the Blitz tournament.
His daughter, Anya Burbach, the reigning Women Masters Champion fought well to score a creditable 4 points out of 9 games. Anya beat two titled players (2 Women Fide Master) and she will pick up some Elo points in the next FIDE rating list. There is no doubt that this international foray will be beneficial to our players and in 3 weeks time it will be the turn of some of our top Juniors to enjoy
an international experience at the World Youth Championship 2026 in Montesilvano (Italy).
