The good works of our volunteers in Shkrel, a mountainous region in Albania, have been joyfully documented by Don Niko, ( see more posts here: Niko Sheldija) the parish priest who welcomes a Maltese group from the Chaplaincy each year. In one of his posts he says:

“Volunteering is one of the most beautiful ways to show love. In these majestic mountains people from different countries meet, united by respect for nature and each other.
Our Maltese friends take pride when our red and black flag flies, because it represents hospitality, cooperation and values that bind us. Brotherhood knows no boundaries; it is born from the heart, from teamwork, and from the desire to leave behind a better world.
Let's preserve nature, let's strengthen friendship and prove every day that volunteering is a bridge that unites people. Because brotherhood is the hope that has no borders.”

Off to Firenze! Early this morning (very early 😅), another group of University of Malta Chaplaincy volunteers set off to Italy to animate a summer camp for children in the poorer areas of Florence. They will be there during July, and will be joined by Jesuit scholastic Andrea Cassar. May it be a fruitful experience all round!
