✨ DID YOU KNOW? ✨
In the spaces on each side of the main altar at the Mosta Rotunda stand two life-size marble statues representing the evangelists St John and St Luke.
These statues were added after the beautiful marble flooring was completed between 1906 and 1911 by Mariano Spina and Antonio Galea, following the design of Raffaele Caruana Dingli (1851–1927) 🎨
The statues themselves were sculpted in marble in 1911 by Sebastiano Spampinato and his firm 🕊️
In the past, these statues also served as ambos for the chanting of the Epistle and the Gospel 📖🎶
❓QUESTION:
Can you guess which evangelist is shown on the right side of the main altar - St John or St Luke? 🤔
