Among the many communities that have made modern Malta their home is a growing Pakistani community, several thousand people, most of whom have arrived over the past decade or so to work across the Maltese economy. Unlike the historic Indian-Hindu Sindhi merchant families (who, interestingly, trace their roots to Hyderabad in what is now Pakistan, and who have been in Valletta since 1887), or the large Filipino healthcare community, the Pakistani community in Malta is newer, smaller, and much less documented. But it has a Consulate of Pakistan in Malta, active community organisations, a presence in the restaurant and food scene, and a steady place in Malta’s foreign workforce. This article sets out what can reliably be said about the Pakistani community in Malta.

Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 suffered significant damage at Frankfurt Airport after its nose landing gear collapsed while the aircraft was parked at the gate and being prepared for departure. The incident occurred before passenger boarding had begun, with only flight crew and ground handling personnel on board. Lufthansa confirmed that several people sustained injuries, including two cabin crew members and multiple ground staff, all of whom were taken to hospital for evaluation and treatment. Authorities and airline teams are now expected to investigate the cause of the ground failure.
