DAAA Haus
At Otto, the visual narrative centres on the building’s original characteristics, serving as a testament to its enduring journey through time. Original arches have been highlighted through the use of architectural lighting, while the original limestone slabs were carefully restored and left exposed. Rather than concealing the building’s age, Otto celebrates its imperfections, allowing the natural character of the structure to become an integral part of the experience.
Soft limewashed walls, warm neutral tones, and organic textures create an atmosphere of serenity throughout Otto. The use of natural materials establishes a sense of continuity between old and new, balancing contemporary interventions with the timeless qualities of the original architecture.

From a studio rooted in the Mediterranean to projects spanning four continents, DAAA Haus has built an international practice on a single idea: that great design is never tied to one place. In this conversation, Founder and Creative Director Keith Pillow talks about how the studio grew, what drives its cross-cultural approach to architecture and interiors, and what is next across Italy, India, Miami and Asia.

After dark, Chronolith became something else entirely.
The stone that absorbed daylight all day began to glow. Shadows deepened. The columns, warm and grounded by day, turned architectural and dramatic by night. The installation did not close when the sun went down. It opened.
There is something about experiencing a structure built from ancient material under artificial light, in the courtyard of a centuries-old university, in the middle of Milan. Time felt very present. Chronolith by DAAA Haus x RECOBEL by Halmann Vella.
