Role purpose

Reporting to the Payroll Manager ESPS, an Analyst Payroll role ensures providing effective and efficient payroll services to employees within Mongolia and APAC region while ensuring compliance with legislation. This role is a great opportunity to be accountable for the day to day payroll services including transactional, administrative, professional, and advisory support to all employees.

Contract length: 8 months

Duties and responsibilities

- Contribute to the on-time delivery of day-to-day payroll and local regulatory compliance activities including but not limited to:,
- Run reports and validate results during payroll runs,
- Assist with month-end payroll activities,
- Oversee employee data and organizational hierarchy records,
- Support Annual Remuneration Review (ARR) checks and related activities,
- Provide support on demand for high-value redundancy and split value STIP calculations,
- Reconcile and support timesheets, payroll inputs and leave management reports,
- Respond to internal, external, or vendor queries including technical or employee data issues but not limited to,
- Ensures the effective, efficient, and value delivery of payroll activities within APAC region.,
- Ensures compliance with company policies, internal control standards, and regulatory requirements,
- Process and reconcile payroll transactions in line with employment contracts, company policies, and legal requirements,
- Prepare and review payroll and HR reports, including those for audits and statutory purposes.,
- Work closely with HR, Payroll vendors, and Regional HR Operations to exchange information.,
- Assist in resolving escalated issues with ESPS Payroll Vendors,

Requirements

- College/University Education: Tertiary accounting qualification (e.g. Diploma, bachelor’s degree) or higher education,
- Other Qualifications: Payroll and Payroll data maintenance experience,

Rio Tinto's Mongolia Business Services & Support Centre (MBSSC) delivers valuable services to Rio Tinto business units and functions outside of Mongolia.

Role purpose

To deliver reliable data insights and reporting for translation and language enablement services, while providing technical-language support for English–Mongolian content and system translation activities. The role contributes to measurable improvements in service performance (quality, SLA adherence, and consistency); supports optimization/automation initiatives and will be pivotal in delivery of Mongolian Language Uplift for the Workday HCM Platform.

What the role entails

BAU – Reporting, dashboards and data quality

- Maintain and administer Power BI dashboards and datasets (refresh schedules, data model hygiene, user access, and publishing routines).
- Conduct complex Excel-based reconciliation and cross-checking (multi-source extracts, pivots, advanced formulas) to validate metrics and identify anomalies.
- Monitor translation pipeline performance, SLA/throughput metrics, and quality indicators; prepare regular status updates and insights for stakeholders.
- Support ongoing Workday/People platform translation BAU updates (tracking changes, logging items, validating translated strings and in-context UI outputs where required).

Projects – Business improvement and automation

- Build and enhance Power BI reports (data modelling, DAX measures, Power Query transformations) to support decision-making and service governance.
- Partner with process owners to define requirements, translate them into datasets/visuals, and iterate based on feedback.
- Contribute to optimisation initiatives (standardised templates, automated checks, repeatable dashboards, and improved data capture).
- Support testing/UAT and go-live activities for translation or platform changes (test evidence, defect logging, validation of outputs).

What you will need for this role

- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Data/Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Linguistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience in reporting/analytics and data validation (Power BI and advanced Excel), with strong attention to detail.
- Strong Power BI capability: data modelling, DAX, Power Query, dataset refresh troubleshooting, and dashboard maintenance.
- Advanced Excel skills: complex formulas, Power Pivot, pivots, lookups, data cleansing and reconciliation across multiple sources.
- High proficiency in English and Mongolian (written and verbal), including the ability to handle technical language and ensure quality in translated content.
