YA Student Council

We’ll be having our representative elections soon.
Please check out the rules & guidelines for what we’ll be expecting.

Election Day Rules:
-Students should have their videos on and mics off to ensure that all students are listening and not disturbing when the candidate is presenting.
-Students should privately send their ballots to the meeting host through the zoom chat.
-The results will be announced immediately afterwards and the winners should send their email address to the host.

The Requirements to be a Student Council Representative
1. Must conduct any homeroom meetings and inform his/her constituents of anticipated business and solicit their opinions.
2. Must attend all student council meetings and cast his/her ballot when votes are required.
3. Must lead by example, be willing to help others, and be an active, positive member of the student council.
4. Must abide by the SLOs.
5. Must remain in good academic and behavioral standing with the school.

Speech Requirements:
-All speeches must be between 60-90 seconds. Speeches that exceed the time limit or do not meet the standards below will be muted.
-Speeches must focus on each candidate's own qualifications for his/her role in the student council.
-Speeches must not focus on one's opponent or express any negative comments about the school or other students.
-Speeches' language and any visual aids use should be appropriate and respectful
