ဒီနေ့ sharing လုပ်ပေးချင်တာကတော့ အမှားမခံတဲ့ phrasal verbs လေးအချို့ပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
ဘာတွေဖြစ်မလဲဆိုတာ ဆက်ပြီးတော့လေ့လာလိုက်ကြရအောင်။ 👇🏻

1️⃣ Ask out

Ask out လုပ်တယ်ဆိုတာကတော့ တစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်ကိုချိန်းတွေ့ရအောင်လို့ ဖိတ်ခေါ်တဲ့အခါမှာ သုံးတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ movie date, coffee date အစရှိသဖြင့် ချိန်းတွေ့ဖို့ propose လုပ်တဲ့အခါ ask out ကိုသုံးလို့ရပါတယ်။

eg. Tom asked Mary out and she replied positive. So, they went to a film.

2️⃣ Fool around

အကျိုးမရှိတာတွေကိုလုပ်နေတယ်၊ အချိန်ကိုအလဟဿဖြုန်းတီးနေတယ်ဆိုရင် fool around လုပ်နေတယ်လို့ ခေါ်ပါတယ်။ ကိုယ့်အတွက်အကျိုးမဖြစ်ထွန်းတဲ့အရာတွေကိုလုပ်ပြီး သာယာနေတယ်ဆိုရင် fool around ကိုသုံးလို့ရပါတယ်။

eg. My son keeps fooling around with his friends. What should I do?

3️⃣ Sit around

လူတစ်ကာ အလုပ်ကိုယ်စီလုပ်နေကြတဲ့အချိန်မှာ မလုပ်ပဲထိုင်နေတဲ့သူကို sit around လုပ်နေတယ်လို့ပြောလို့ရပါတယ်။ များသောအားဖြင့်ရေသာခိုတဲ့သူကိုရည်ညွှန်းတဲ့အခါမှာ သုံးပါတယ်။ ဘာမှဟုတ်တိပတ်တိဝင်မလုပ်ပဲ ငုတ်တုတ်ကြီးထိုင်နေတယ်ဆိုရင် sit around လုပ်နေတယ်လို့ သုံးလို့ရပါတယ်။

eg. We didn't hire you to just sit around. Do your work.

4️⃣ Make up

မဟုတ်မမှန် လုပ်ကြံဖန်တီးတာကိုဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ ကလေးငယ်တွေကိုညအိပ်ရာဝင်ပုံပြင်ပြောတဲ့အခါမှာ ကိုယ့်စိတ်ကူးရှိတဲ့အတိုင်းဖန်တီးပြောပြတာမျိုး၊ ဇာတ်လမ်းထွင် လိမ်ညာပြောတာမျိုးကို make up လုပ်တယ်လို့သုံးပါတယ်။

လိမ်းတဲ့မိတ်ကပ် (makeup (n)) နဲ့မမှားဖို့ သတိပြုရပါမယ်။

eg. It's obvious that he made up the reason of why he came back home very late last night.

5️⃣ Take out

ကိုယ်ကနေတစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်ကို အပြင်မှာတစ်ခုခုသွားစားဖို့ဖိတ်ခေါ်ပြီး ကျသင့်ငွေကိုလည်းကိုယ်ကရှင်းပေးတယ်ဆိုရင် take out လုပ်တယ်လို့ခေါ်ပါတယ်။ တစ်နည်းအားဖြင့် တစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်ကို အပြင်မှာလိုက်ကျွေးတာကို ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

eg. Joe took her out to an Italian restaurant. I bet they enjoyed the moment.

ဒီ phrasal verbs တွေဟာ အခြား phrasal verbs တွေထက်စာရင် လူသိလည်းပိုနည်းပြီး အဓိပ္ပါယ်တွေကလည်းပိုမိုလေးနက်ကြပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့်မို့ နားလည်ထားပြီး မှန်မှန်ကန်ကန်သုံးတတ်မယ်ဆိုရင် အများကြီးအကျိုးရှိမှာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

မကောင်းတဲ့ situation တစ်ခုကနေ ကပ်သီလေးလွတ်လာတယ်ဆိုတာရယ်၊ အချိန်မှီလေးကွက်တိရောက်သွားတယ်၊လုပ်နိုင်သွားတယ်ဆိုတာရယ်ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Eg(1). There was a huge explosion near my workplace around 4PM yesterday. I only left there by the skin of my teeth.

Eg(2). I arrived to the cinema by the skin of my teeth. The film had just been started.

2. To break the ice 🗣

အခုမှစတွေ့ကြတဲ့သူအချင်ချင်းကြားမှာ နေရခက်ပြီး ရှိုးတို့ရှန်းတန်းဖြစ်တဲ့ situation တစ်ခုရှိဖူးကြမယ်ထင်ပါတယ်။ လူ၂ယောက်ပဲဖြစ်စေ၊ Group လိုက်ပဲဖြစ်စေ ဘာပြောလို့ပြောရမှန်းမသိဘဲကြောင်အမ်းအမ်းကြီးဖြစ်နေတဲ့အခြေအနေမှာ တစ်ယောက်ယောက်က ဟာသတစ်ခုခုပြောလိုက်တာမျိုး၊ အားလုံး discuss လုပ်လို့ရမယ် Topic တစ်ခု အစချီပေးလိုက်တာမျိုး…စသဖြင့် အချင်းချင်း relaxed ဖြစ်သွားအောင်ပြုလုပ်လိုက်တာကို Break the ice လို့ပြောတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Eg. Timothee said a joke in order to break the ice at the dinner last night.

3. To be the apple of one’s eye 😻

ဒီ expression လေးကိုတော့ အားလုံးရင်းနှီးပြီးသားဖြစ်မယ်ထင်ပါတယ်။ တစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်၊ တစ်စုံတစ်ခုက တခြားအရာတွေထက်ပိုပြီးကိုယ့်အမြင်အာရုံထဲမှာ ချစ်စရာကောင်းနေတယ်၊ ကြည့်မဝဖြစ်နေတယ်လို့ပြောချင်တဲ့အခါသုံးပါတယ်။

Eg. My little sister is the apple of my eye. I just can’t get enough of seeing her giggling.

4. It’s raining cats and dogs ⛈

မိုးအရမ်းသည်းတာကိုပြောတာပါ။ ပုံမှန်ရွာနေကျနဲ့မတူဘဲ လေရော၊မိုးရောပြင်းထန်ပြီး လျှပ်စီးတွေလက်၊ မိုးတွေခြိမ်း၊ လမ်းမပေါ်မှာလည်းရေတွေဖုံးလွှမ်းတဲ့ထိရွာတယ်ဆိုရင် It’s raining cats and dogs ပါ။

Eg. I’m afraid I’m late. It’s raining cats and dogs and the roads are all flooded.

5. To be in a pickle 🥗

Pickle ဆိုတာက မြန်မာလိုဆိုဒညင်းသီးဆားရည်စိမ်တို့၊ သရက်သီးဆားရည်စိမ်တို့လို အသီးအနှံတွေကို vinegar(ဒါမှမဟုတ်)ဆားရည်ထဲစိမ်၊ jar တစ်ခုထဲထည့်ထားပြီး side dish အနေနဲ့စားရတဲ့ဟာမျိုးပါ။ “To be in a pickle” ရဲ့ idiomatic အဓိပ္ပာယ်ကတော့ အခက်အခဲတစ်ခုဖြစ်နေတယ်၊ စဉ်းစားရကြပ်တဲ့အခြေအနေတစ်ခုရောက်နေတယ်လို့ဆိုလိုတာပါ။

Eg. I’m in a pickle. I have to pay my rent by next Saturday and I haven’t got my salary yet.
