တစ်ချို့ကလေးတွေမှားနေတာလေးတွေတွေ့တော့မနေနိုင်မထိုင်နိုင်တဲ့ ဒီဆရာကပြောပြဦးမယ်။
🧐 ဘာလို့ “I Prefer Tea to Coffee” လို့ပြောပြီး “Than” မသုံးတာလဲ?
အင်္ဂလိပ်ဘာသာစကားမှာ
➡️ “prefer” ဆိုတဲ့ကြိယာနဲ့တွဲသုံးတဲ့ comparison အတွက် "to" ကိုသုံးတာပါ။ "than" မဟုတ်ပါဘူး။
များသောအားဖြင့် Degree Comparison ဆိုပြီးကျောင်းစာမှာပါတဲ့ Adj-er than နဲ့ more Adj than လို့သိကြတာများပါတယ်။ နိူင်းယှဉ်တာကြီးတူပေမယ့် အသုံးအနှုန်းတွေကတော့ကွာပါတယ်။
✅ မှန်ကန်တဲ့ပုံစံ
I prefer tea to coffee.

She prefers books to movies.

❌ မှားနေတဲ့ပုံစံ
I prefer tea than coffee.

She prefers books than movies.

🤔 ဘာကြောင့် “to” ဆိုတာမှန်တာလဲ?
“Prefer” ဟာ နာမ်နှစ်ခု (သို့) -ing ပါတဲ့ကြိယာများကို နှိုင်းယှဉ်တဲ့အခါမှာ
parallel structure ကိုလိုအပ်တယ်။
ဒီမှာ သုံးသင့်တာက “to” ဖြစ်ပြီး
“than” ဆိုတာကတော့ adjective comparison အတွက်သာ သုံးတာပါ။

📌 ဥပမာများ:
I prefer walking to driving.

They prefer working at home to going to the office.

ဒါက တူညီတဲ့အမျိုးအစား (verb+ing / noun) နှစ်ခုကို နှိုင်းယှဉ်တာပါ။

📍 “Than” ကိုတော့ “taller than,” “more beautiful than” တို့လို
နှိုင်းယှဉ်ခြင်းပြနာမဝိသေသန (comparative adjectives) မှာ သုံးပါတယ်။
