First International Conference for Applied Computer Technologies was held at UIST, Ohrid from 21 till 22 June. The chair of the conference Dr. Karadimche, opened the conference, Vice Rector Dr. Vasileva, spoke on the behalf of the Rector, TU Varna and Dr. Bogatinoska on behalf of Rector, UIST Ohrid.
The first keynote speaker Dr. Kristina Bliznakova from Technical University of Varna, Bulgaria, described her research in the field of breast imaging and engineers must contribute to the development of such technologies, which screen and diagnose the cancer, as earlier as possible. The focus was on the developments obtained within the MAXIMA project (Three-dimensional breast cancer models for X-ray Imaging research) and how these will contribute to busting the specific scientific field for the development of new technologies.
The second keynote speaker Dr. Sabareesh Velu from UIST, Ohrid talked about speckle optical tweezers (SOT) a simple, low-degree of control setup to manipulate microscopic passive particles to different diffusion regimes i.e., sub-diffusion, super-diffusion, and free diffusion using the statistical properties of speckle light fields. In the second part of his speech, he presented some recent experimental results where a colloidal active matter system switches between gathering and dispersal of individuals in response to speckle light fields (noisy or disordered potential).
This conference is a result of cooperation between University of Information Science and Technology “St. Paul the Apostle” – Ohrid, the Republic of Macedonia represented by, Rector Dr. Ninoslav Marina and the Technical University of Varna, Republic of Bulgaria, represented by Rector Dr. Rosen Vasilev. They both agreed upon organizing a joint conference and that the Technical University of Varna will be actively involved in the organization of this event.
The official language of the conference was English. The participants shared their knowledge and ideas to map out the directions for the scientific community, in following main areas: Applied Computer Science; Applied Mathematics; Biomedical Engineering; Blockchain Technologies; Computer Science; Distributed and Parallel Computing; Economy, Management and Sustainable Development; Electronics; Information Society and Social Development; New Media Art, Science and Technology; Power Systems; Robotics and mechatronics; Signal and Image Processing and Telecommunications.
The chair of conference, Dr. Karadimche closed the conference with a thank you note followed by Conference Dinner where the conference organizers from UIST Ohrid and TU Varna agreed upon making this conference a tradition for upcoming years with due appreciation by Vice Rector, Dr. Vasileva TU Varna.
