Mentors: guidance and support

The vulnerable nature of migrants, particularly refugees, means that complementary approaches must be taken into account in their integration into society and, subsequently, the labour market to enable them to live with dignity and fulfil their potential in Europe.
In the European project Mufocom, the methodology of guidance and support through mentors fills the gap left by conventional educational approaches. The human relationship of trust between mentors and mentees leads to improved mental health, hope and self-confidence among migrants and refugees while also offering assistance in the rapid assimilation of technical and professional skills necessary for their future.

Mufocom: A project for social integration that is almost completed

๐ŸŸจThe completion of the Mufocom European project is approaching. 7 partners from 5 countries (Italy, France, Greece, Portugal, and Luxembourg worked for the effective social integration of migrants and refugees in European societies.

๐ŸŸจA crucial aspect of Mufocom was the improvement of the skills of trainers and professionals working with migrants and refugees, giving them the necessary tools to educate migrant adults across Europe. Thus, scientific experience and cross-cultural empathy were multiplied, with beneficial results for our most vulnerable fellow human beings.

๐ŸŸขThe Mufocom project aims to smoothly and efficiently integrate migrants and refugees into European society and economy.

๐ŸŸขAmong other methods, this is done by promoting e-learning tools, including those previously developed in other Erasmus+ projects. In addition, highlighting particular examples through storytelling and recording successful case studies is used as a learning tool to encourage and motivate migrants and refugees to discover their skills and competencies.

Language learning activities by the Athens Lifelong Learning Institute
The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute has implemented a variety of non-formal language learning activities for migrants/refugees. The ALLI team regularly works with a group of refugee women from Ukraine, aiming at social integration and inclusion. The activities were based on a more practical approach in order to give participants a chance to cooperate, express themselves and learn while having fun. Lessons were a chance not only to develop language skills but also to develop social skills and bonding.
