🌍 A proud moment for Lithuanian science!

Prof. Ieva Plikusienė, a researcher and lecturer at Vilnius University, has received the André Mischke Award from the Young Academy of Europe.

This award is presented once a year to one European researcher for outstanding scientific achievements and contribution to science and science policy.

Prof. Plikusienė works where life sciences, physics and nanotechnology meet. Her work has already earned major international recognition - from being named one of the 15 most promising young scientists in the world by the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science programme, to becoming the first Lithuanian scientist appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the UNESCO International Basic Sciences Programme.

💗 Vilnius went pink. Very pink.

This year’s Vilnius Pink Soup Fest welcomed a record 176,650 people - including 33,800 guests from abroad.

Nearly 7 tonnes of šaltibarščiai were eaten, over 330 city spots joined in, and the pink madness reached media around the world.

Not bad for a cold pink soup. 🥣💕

See you next year: 28-30 May.

What does A+ mean for Lithuania? 🇱🇹

Fitch Ratings has upgraded Lithuania’s credit rating to A+ with a stable outlook.

📈 This is an important signal of international confidence in Lithuania’s economy, public finances and long-term resilience.

🛡️ The upgraded rating reflects Lithuania’s ability to maintain growth, manage debt responsibly and remain stable despite external pressures and geopolitical uncertainty.

💼 For investors, businesses and international partners, the message is clear: Lithuania is a trusted, reliable and forward-looking economy.

💡 It is also a recognition of the country’s broader economic progress - from disciplined fiscal policy to the growth of high-value sectors, innovation and digital services.
