We‘re on DELFI.lt news – Vertex CEO Ernestas Petkevicius shared his thoughts on the gender pay gap in IT companies.
As described in the article, the difference in earnings between women and men remains relatively high in most IT enterprises. However, the situation is changing and in some companies, the average wage for women and men is almost the same, or women earn even more on average than men do.
We‘re happy to see that our company is among them: according to our CEO, Vertex aims to ensure fair pay for all employees regardless of their gender or other circumstances.
"Gender of the employee is not important to companies. The salary is determined by employee‘s qualification, their salary expectations, and overall market situation, but not by the gender“, – explains Ernestas and urges women to be bolder and more confident in salary negotiations.

Here is the video of our amazing workation we have just had in Malaga, Spain. When we look back we see that it was one week full of everything!
Lazily relaxing on the sandy beaches or walking, hiking and climbing – literally until you can hardly move. Having a quiet baby sleep or no time for sleeping at all because you were chatting and laughing with your teammate all night long. Doing your everyday work in the hotel room with breathtaking views or on the sunbed while sipping the cocktail – anywhere you wish to.
“Although working under the Spanish sun sounded like a challenge at first, the week was quite productive (not as productive as I planned though haha), – Renata, content manager at Vertex, says with a smile on her face. – I think we had just the right balance of work and fun last week and that's what probably made it so effective. Highlights? An office with the sea view and the top of the Gibraltar Rock that we climbed using the most difficult hiking trail. Great conditions to get to know better the ones you're working with and I must say – that is one awesome crew to be a part of!”
Robertas, who joined our team a few months ago, adds that for him this workation was a good chance to meet some colleagues for the first time: “I was able to meet the team and build solid connections with everyone. It was an amazing experience”, – says Robertas, our Head of sales.

Vertex teammate Mykolas wears our special T-shirt, made for our workation in Malaga. Just a few days left and we‘ll move our office under the Spanish sun for a week – all together we‘ll enjoy Spain‘s beaches, amazing sea views, laughs and long talks and at the same time will do some work, of course!
“Can’t wait for it. Looking forward to spend time with colleagues not in the usual work environment. I think it’s a good opportunity to know your teammates better. Some of them I’ll meet for the first time – those who work remotely in other cities or even other countries, - says Mykolas, our Business Development Representative. – I hope to have morning runs with our CEO there and go surfing – to stand on a surfboard again and practically try what I have learned during my surf classes a few months ago.”
Raimundas, Product owner at Vertex, adds that every year they do workations somewhere abroad: “First part of the day is usually dedicated for work and another one – for something fun together with your team people. I can easily switch on and work even on a sunbed by the pool – I’ve tried it on our Greece workation and it is really worked”, - says Raimundas.
According to him, it’s a good combination of business and leisure that has many advantages: helps increase motivation, creativity and strengthen the company’s culture. So let’s go to Malaga and stay tuned to find out more!

Turns out, some of us came to work today feeling like they've just had 2-3 bottles of beer... :) This is the effect of fewer than 6 hours of sleep! Thanks Vitalijus for an informative presentation on how to sleep well, we definitely have some work to do! Let's start tonight
