Celebrating 5 Years of Service Above Self
As we celebrated 5 incredible years of the Rotary Club of Mantsopa-Maseru this past Saturday, we reflected with pride and gratitude on a journey marked by leadership, service, growth, and impact.
Our story began in May 2021, when then Rotary International President’s Representative and now Rotary International President-Elect—Yinka Babalola brought together a group of young Rotaractors from Qiloane with a bold vision: to establish a Rotary club that would bridge the age gap and create space for young leaders within Rotary. With the support of PDG Maud, PAG Matsobane, and the unwavering guidance of the Rotary Club of Maloti, that vision became a reality.
In 2021, the Rotary Club of Mantsopa-Maseru was officially chartered with 26 founding members, becoming the youngest Rotary Club in District 9370, with an average age of just 36. From those humble beginnings during the COVID-19 era, meeting at Victoria Hotel, we grew into a vibrant club committed to meaningful service.
Over the past five years, we have touched lives through impactful projects, strategic partnerships, and sustainable community initiatives.
5 Years of Impact:
• 60+ students sponsored through Friends of Lesotho
• Reusable sanitary towels donated to Matelile and Ha-Abia communities
• Books donated to communities through Books for Lesotho
• Connected Lesotho and the UK through Mantsopa, Sello-Mafatle Attorneys, and the Rotary Club of Lostwithiel to support Senkatana with essential equipment
• Partnered in beach clean-up initiatives with the European Union Delegation to Lesotho and Renoka
• Delivered the Keep the Child Warm project in partnership with Rosebank Rotary Club
We are equally proud to have contributed to the growth of the Rotary family by chartering and reviving 6 Rotaract Clubs:
• Botho-Maseru
• NUL-Maseru
• CAS-Maseru
• LP-Maseru
• Montech-Maseru
• Qiloane-Maseru
None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our partners and collaborators:
• Footprints of Hope
• Friends of Lesotho
• Books for Lesotho
• European Union Delegation to Lesotho
• Vodacom Lesotho
• Revenue Services Lesotho
• Nedbank Lesotho
• Pick n Pay Lesotho
• DataNet
• Shines Cleaning Pty Ltd
• Office National
• Lesotho Flour Mills
• Sefalana
• Coca-Cola Beverages Lesotho
• Serenity Wellness
• Kick4Life
• Cyaara Guest House
• Melesi Lodge
• Lekhooa Transport
• Mjuza Transport
This journey has been shaped by visionary leadership from our presidents:
• PP Makhetha Motsoari (2021/2022)
• PP Litsoanelo Thamae (2022/2023)
• PP Lemphane Lesoli (2023/2024)
• IPP Nolwazi Tshabalala (2024/2025)
• President Mabotle Maphika (2025/2026)
Each leader has played a significant role in shaping the club we are today.
As we celebrate this milestone, we look back with gratitude on how far we have come, from a bold idea to a thriving club of young leaders committed to creating lasting change.
Here’s to 5 years of service, fellowship, and impact, and to many more years of transforming lives and communities.
Together, we unite for good.
