Gender-based violence is not just a human rights issue, it’s an economic crisis.

In Lesotho, GBV costs the nation 5.5% of its GDP, translating to about M900 ($50) lost per citizen every year.

Ending GBV is not optional, it’s essential for our people, our economy, and our future.

Menstruation is natural. But for many girls and women, it is still surrounded by silence, stigma, and barriers.

Too often, periods mean missed school, limited opportunities, and feelings of shame, simply because of a lack of information, support, or basic supplies. Yet managing menstruation should be safe, dignified, and free from discrimination.

At UNFPA in Lesotho, we are working with partners and communities to:
✔️ Promote menstrual health education
✔️ Support access to essential supplies through dignity kits
✔️ Advocate for safe, private, and inclusive facilities

Because menstruation should never stand in the way of a girl’s education, confidence, or future.

Let’s break the silence. Let’s end the stigma. Let’s ensure dignity for all.

Reduction of maternal mortality took centre stage today as UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, met with Partners In Health (PIH) Lesotho to deepen collaboration and accelerate impact.

The meeting was led by UNFPA Representative John Kennedy Mosoti and Partners In Health Lesotho Executive Director Ms Ret'sepile Tlali. Discussions also explored critical areas including mental health and innovative ways to reach women and girls in the hardest-to-reach communities.
