TOWARDS A CHILD LABOUR FREE STATE

The Mafeteng District Child Protection Team (DCPT) was invited to a stakeholders meeting by the World Vision Lesotho at Lindi's Guest House on the 8th August 2024. The meeting was aimed at introducing the project, "ACCELERATING ACTION FOR ELIMINATION OF CHILD LABOUR AND FORCED LABOUR (A.E.C.F.L), which is projected to come to an end by 2026 end (30 months project).

The beneficiaries to this project will be the children in the spaces of direct and indirect child labour. There are many objectives as soughted forth and as the status quo stands at 14% of children labourers, the project is aimed at dropping to 7%, with possibility of 0% as per the ongoing discussions.
The identified cases will be referred to relevant cases and the project will involve multiple trainings aimed at information dissermination and action towards ending child labour.

Included are the Community Council Child Protection Teams, Faith Leaders, Traditional Leaders, Youth and more, with 50%females as part of the beneficiary groups.

The project is to kickstart and good results awaiting... Sustainability of the project discusssed and capacity building ongoing...
