Residents Voice Concerns Over Leadership at One Logan Town Festival
By Marcus Thomas, Reporter
Monrovia, November 7, 2024 — The One Logan Town Festival, an event initially intended to celebrate and uplift the Logan Town community, is now facing intense scrutiny from residents who claim that it has strayed from its original mission. A growing chorus of locals is expressing discontent over perceived issues of accountability and transparency within the festival’s organizing committee.
Financial reports indicate that out of the US $7,469.88 in total revenue, a staggering US $7,178.91 was spent on entertainment and merrymaking activities, leaving only US $290.97 to support any local initiatives. This allocation has sparked outrage among members, who argue that the remaining funds are insufficient for meaningful community projects.
The dissatisfaction has led to public calls for the resignation of key festival leaders, including Chairman Momodu Dukuly, Vice Chair for Finance Sensee J. Morris, and Bishop Siebo Frank. Critics assert that the festival has become a platform for personal enrichment for a select few rather than a genuine representation of community interests.
“This festival was meant to bring us together and support our local initiatives, but it feels like it’s become a vehicle for a few individuals to benefit at the expense of its members.” said a concerned resident who requested anonymity. “We need leadership that is committed to transparency and accountability.”
The growing unrest among residents underscores a larger concern about the festival’s trajectory and its implications for local development. As the event gears up for its next iteration, many community members are calling for a reassessment of its leadership and a recommitment to its foundational goals of fostering unity and support within Logan Town.
As the situation develops, it remains uncertain whether the organizing committee will heed the rising calls for change or if community members will be compelled to take more drastic measures to restore the festival’s original purpose. Once a beacon of community pride, the One Logan Town Festival now finds itself at a pivotal juncture, with its future uncertain amidst the mounting discontent.

Legal Troubles Deepen for Former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah Amid Bond Controversy
By: Staff Writer
Monrovia, October 4, 2024– Former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah’s hopes for freedom may be dashed as state prosecutors raise serious concerns about the validity of an $8 million property bond he posted. Despite his efforts to secure his release, legal experts warn that the bond may not hold up under scrutiny, potentially leading to his continued detention.
Prosecutors have filed a notice of exception, challenging the legality of the bond on several grounds. They assert that the properties listed in the bond documentation are allegedly owned by Rudolph S. Cole and Refine J. Cole, raising questions about Tweah’s actual ownership and the bond’s legitimacy. The state’s legal team contends that the discrepancies in ownership documentation render the bond insufficient to secure Tweah’s freedom.
Adding to the complications, the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has reported a lack of records to verify the ownership or the assessed value of the properties in question. The properties associated with property identification number 25115, which is central to the bond, have not been substantiated by any available documentation, further complicating Tweah’s legal situation.
As the investigation unfolds, the implications for Tweah could be severe. If the court finds the bond invalid, he may face immediate arrest, extending his legal battles and potentially leading to significant legal repercussions. The case has drawn considerable public attention, as many await the court’s decision on the matter.
Samuel Tweah, who served as Liberia’s Finance Minister, has been under scrutiny for his financial dealings during his tenure. His situation reflects broader concerns about accountability and transparency in government, as citizens demand greater oversight of public officials.
The legal proceedings are expected to continue, with the next court appearance likely to be pivotal for both Tweah and the prosecution. As the situation develops, the public remains keenly interested in the outcome of this high-profile case, which could have lasting implications for Liberia’s political landscape and governance.

He urged both local and foreign companies to invest in the education of vulnerable children, stating, "Education is the most powerful weapon that will change Liberia, Africa, and the world."
Kokan called upon multi-million dollar companies operating in Liberia to step up their contributions to child or children education, stressing that silence or refusal to help will not benefit society.
He highlighted the critical role companies play in fostering a productive environment for future generations especially in education.
In remarks, the Principal of Community Kids Baptist Academy, Mr. Kahien Gbuway, expressed gratitude for AGL’s support, describing it as timely.
He noted that parental contributions through school fees primarily go to teacher salaries, which limits the school's ability to maintain a conducive learning atmosphere.

Captain Kokan reassured the community that Africa Global Logistics will continue its support for the Community Kids Baptist Academy and is committed to helping both the students and school administration in the future.
