Gabanja Seeds of Impact Initiative Transparency & Progress
We’re happy to share that Gabanja International Volunteer Program has officially begun its farming project preparation, our second source of sustainable income.
Yesterday, we received advance $250 USD from a supportive board member toward our $1,200 goal. To avoid delays before the rain starts to fall. We immediately began preparations.
✅ $180 USD was used to purchase essential farming tools
✅ $70 USD is reserved for transportation for the project team
Tools Purchased Include:
Shovels, hoes, rakes, watering cans, a wheelbarrow, and cutlasses.
The project will take place on two plots of land in Johnsonville, Liberia, generously donated by Mrs. Washington.
Land clearing begins within the next 3 days, led by our Project Manager, Emmanuel Trokolon.
This project will help us increase tutor stipends, improve logistics, and expand our work to more underserved communities.
We remain committed to transparency and will continue to share updates every step of the way.
Thank you for your continued support!

As we continue to work collaboratively towards the advancement and sustainability of Gabanja Literacy School, we wish to convene a planning meeting to determine and confirm the final date and time for our upcoming initiatives.
Provisionally, the meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday, 31th October 2025, at 2:30 p.m., at Battery Factory Community, Gabanja Literacy School. The purpose of this meeting is to deliberate on the following key matters:
1. Community Engagement:
We plan to issue invitations to the parents of our students, encouraging their participation in our ongoing efforts to build and strengthen Gabanja’s future.
2. Agricultural Development Project:
One of our major forthcoming undertakings is to make effective use of the parcel of land generously donated to Gabanja by Mrs. Washington several years ago.
After careful consideration of our hot and humid tropical climate—with its distinct dry and wet seasons—we propose cultivating fast-growing crops such as lettuce, okra, cucumber, and sweet potato.
These crops are consistently in demand within the Monrovia markets and mature within two to three months. This project is envisioned to become a sustainable source of income for the school, thereby supporting its operations and empowering our tutors.
Our ultimate goal is to make Gabanja Literacy School self-reliant, capable of sustaining itself throughout both the dry and wet seasons in Liberia.
3. Expansion of Educational Centers:
We are also preparing to establish two new tutorial centers by January 2026 to extend our educational reach within the Johnsonville community, specifically in Trouble-Town Village, where the donated land is situated.
4. Formation of a New Board of Directors:
In line with our growth strategy, we intend to constitute a new Board of Directors, comprising our most committed tutors and community members who share our vision for education and community upliftment. This Board will play a pivotal role in guiding the school’s strategic direction, enhancing accountability, and ensuring that our present initiatives serve as a firm foundation for future progress.
Your presence and contribution to this planning meeting will be invaluable as we finalize the arrangements and align our collective efforts towards Gabanja’s continued development.
Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment to the mission of Gabanja Literacy School.

Many children in Liberia, particularly in slum areas like The Battery Factory and Topoe Village community, live in extreme poverty and often go to bed hungry. Their parents struggle to meet daily needs, forcing the children to fish at the river instead of attending school. On Friday, Ms. Bracewell visited Gabanja School and found some of our students fishing because they haven't been able to attend school for a week due to their family's financial struggles. The Gabanja International Volunteer program is dedicated to helping these children get off the streets and receive an education, and we plan to restart our feeding program next semester. We rely on a small fishing boat for income, but we can't do this without your support. Please consider partnering with us to help make their dreams come true. You can reach us at [email protected].
