The only means of curbing the COVID Pandemic is by following the Health Protocols - CSA Deputy Director General Asserts

The surge of COVID-19 pandemic which has relatively brought the World to its knees; killing 1000s of persons and thereby affecting every fabric of society, curbing it has grasp the concerns of everyone.

As an effort to complement the Government and its partners, including other private instutions, the Civil Servants Association of Liberia (CSAL), the umbrella body of Civil Servants within the Public Sector, has launched a COVID-19 Preventive Drive with the aim of making provision assorted sanitary items to nine (9) Ministries and Agencies of Government.

Serving as the Chief Launcher, Hon. Onikeh Smythe-Jackson (Mrs.) - CSA Deputy Director General for Human Resource Management and Policy said, "COVID is real; killing countless numbers of people worldover - and the only means of curbing the disease is by following the health protocols".

Detailing her assertion, Hon. Smythe-Jackson said and encouraged Civil Servants and Liberians in general to, wear their masks; wash their hands with water constantly; observe social distancing; and most importantly, get vaccinated".

She however reminded and assured the leadership of CSAL and Civil Servants that as required, the Civil Service Agency (CSA) being the central government Agency responsible for Human Resource Management for Public Services, deems it needful at all times to be in support of programs organized by the CSAL; thanking the Leadership and members for said timely initiative.

According to Mr. Moibah Johnson, President of CSAL, beneficiary ministeries and agencies for the first phase will include the Civil Service Agency (CSA); Ministries of Commerce & Industries; Education and Labor; others are the Liberia Repatriation & Resettlement Committee (LRRRC); the Ministry of Post & Telecommunication; and rest are, Ministries of Public Works, Agriculture and Transport.

CSA Boss Urges Civil Servants to be Career oriented; not political

The Director General of the Civil Service Agency (Liberia) Hon. James A. Thompson called on all Civil Servants to remain as technical and career people void of active politics at their respective employments.

DG Thompson, who microscoped and termed Civil Servants as the major Constituents of the Civil Service Agency of Liberia, said, it is instead unfortunate to see some civil servants who should be career people and most focused on their professional responsibilities actively engaging into daily politics to the extend of publicly spewing out negative views to the annoyance of Heads of Entities and other officials, yet demand the CSA to unconditionally defend them for their action.

The Director General in furtherance emphasized that as part of the CSA's statutory responsibility to protect Civil Servants, it urges Members to rescind from active politics because Civil Servants are not politicians.

Hon. Thompson made these assertions when he served as special Guest during the honoring Ceremony of four (4) committed Civil Servants in persons of Madams Comfort Nyepan and Ruth Garwu Sandiman from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and General Service Agency respectively; others were Mr. William B. Buxton, II; from the Liberia Institute of Public Administration; and Mr. Adolphus M.G.D. Gleekia from the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

DG Thompson vehemently applauded the Honorees for their dedicated services to their assigned jobs; encouraged others to emulate accordingly. He equally commended the organizer - the Civil Servants Association of Liberia (CSAL) for the thoughtfulness of honoring deserving civil servants instead of politicians.

Also speaking, the President of the CSAL Mr. Moibah Johnson openly appreciated the CSA Boss for his continuous support and insightful advice to the leadership of CSAL; pointed out the DG's steady and merit-based leadership style.

President Johnson admonished members of CSAL to remain committed to their duties as Civil Servants.

All four Honorees who separately spoke, expressed their overwhelming delight in being recognized and chosen for such historic and national honor.

The Civil Servants Association of Liberia, CSAL for short, is an Association body of all Civil Servants employed within the Public Sector of Liberia.

The ceremony was graced by Hon. Onikeh Smythe Jackson - Deputy Director General for Human Resource Management & Planning (CSA), Media, families and Friends of the Honorees and officials of Government.
