Oriflame’s Astaxanthin & Bilberry Extract is a combination of antioxidants including natural astaxanthin and bilberry extract. In addition, it contains vitamins C and E that contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Astaxanthin is one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants (Stachowiak & Szulc, 2021). It is a naturally occurring carotenoid most abundantly found in the freshwater microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis. Bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus), or European blueberries, contain anthocyanins, a type of flavonoids (polyphenols) with antioxidant properties. The water-soluble vitamin C and the fat-soluble vitamin E are both function as antioxidants in the body and protect cells against oxidative stress.
