The Bible, the Word of God promises us persecution and suffering for our faith.

The world hates Jesus Christ, and therefore is in rebellion against Him.

When the God came as a man in the person of Jesus Christ, the world responded by murdering Him.

Christ promised us that the world would treat us the way it treated Him.

"Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also." -- John 15:20

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." -- 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

"Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of my name." -- Maththew 24:9

"Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." -- 2 Timothy 3:12

As Christians marked the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, Todd Nettleton from Voice of the Martyrs urged Christians to imagine themselves in the shoes of the persecuted, reminding them of Hebrews 13:3 — to remember those in prison as if we were there with them.

He also talked about his recent trip to South Asia, where he met Christians in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka who stay strong in their faith, even when facing threats, beatings, or having their homes burned.
