நெடுந்தீவு மக்களின் போக்குவரத்து நெருக்கடிகள் தொடர்பில் இந்தியத் துணைத் தூதரைச் சந்தித்த மக்கள் பிரதிநிதிகள் குழு...!

நெடுந்தீவு மக்களின் நீண்டகாலப் போக்குவரத்துப் பிரச்சினைகளுக்குத் தீர்வுகாணும் நோக்கில், இலங்கைத் தமிழ் அரசுக் கட்சியின் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் சிவஞானம் சிறீதரன் அவர்களின் ஒழுங்குபடுத்தலில், யாழ்ப்பாணத்திற்கான இந்தியத் துணைத் தூதுவர் திருமிகு சாய் முரளி அவர்களுக்கும் நெடுந்தீவுப் பிரதேச சபையின் தவிசாளர் தலைமையிலான குழுவினருக்கும் இடையிலான முக்கிய சந்திப்பு அண்மையில் யாழ்ப்பாணத்திலுள்ள இந்தியத் துணைத் தூதரகத்தில் நடைபெற்றது.

​இக்கலந்துரையாடலில், நெடுந்தீவுக்கான தற்போதைய போக்குவரத்துச் சேவைகள் மக்களின் தேவைகளைப் பூர்த்தி செய்யப் போதுமானதாக இல்லை என்பது தொடர்பாகப் பல்வேறு விடயங்கள் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டன. குறிப்பாக, 60 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாகப் பயன்பாட்டிலுள்ள 'குமுதினி' படகு மிகவும் பழமையான நிலையில் உள்ளதையும், தற்போதுள்ள ஏனைய படகுகளான "வடதாரகை" மற்றும் "நெடுந்தாரகை" ஆகியவை நோயாளிகள், கர்ப்பிணித் தாய்மார்கள் மற்றும் முதியவர்கள் பயணிக்கப் பொருத்தமற்ற வகையில் இருப்பதையும் துணைத் தூதுவரிடம் சுட்டிக்காட்டினர்.

​தொடர்ந்து, நாகபட்டினம் - காங்கேசந்துறை சேவையில் ஈடுபடும் 'சிவகங்கை' கப்பல் போன்ற புற அமைப்பும், குமுதினிப் படகு போன்ற உட்கட்டமைப்பைக் கொண்ட, வேகமான பயணத்தை உறுதிப்படுத்தக்கூடிய இரண்டு புதிய படகுகளை இந்திய அரசின் உதவியுடன் நெடுந்தீவு மக்களுக்காகப் பெற்றுத்தருமாறு கோரிக்கைக் கடிதம் ஒன்றும் இதன்போது கையளிக்கப்பட்டது.

​இக்கலந்துரையாடலில், நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் சிவஞானம் சிறீதரன், நெடுந்தீவுப் பிரதேச சபைய்இன் தவிசாளர் திரு.ச.சத்தியவரதன், உப தவிசாளர் மற்றும் கௌரவ உறுப்பினர்கள் பங்கேற்றனர்.

Delegation Meets Indian Deputy Consul on Neduntheevu Transport Crisis...!

A delegation of public representatives met with the Indian Deputy Consul to discuss the ongoing transportation difficulties faced by the people of Neduntheevu.

This important meeting was organized by Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) Member of Parliament Sivagnanam Shritharan, with the participation of the Indian Deputy Consul in Jaffna, Mr. Sai Murali, and a delegation led by the Chairman of the Neduntheevu Pradeshiya Sabha. The discussion took place recently at the Indian Consulate in Jaffna.

During the meeting, several concerns were raised regarding the inadequacy of current transport services to meet the needs of the people of Neduntheevu. It was highlighted that the boat “Kumudini,” which has been in operation for over 60 years, is now in a severely outdated condition. Additionally, the existing vessels “Vadatharakai” and “Neduntharakai” were noted to be unsuitable for passengers such as patients, pregnant women, and the elderly.

Furthermore, a formal request letter was submitted seeking the assistance of the Government of India to provide two new vessels. These proposed boats are expected to have an external structure similar to the “Sivagangai” ship operating on the Nagapattinam–Kankesanthurai route, along with internal facilities comparable to the “Kumudini” boat, ensuring faster and more comfortable travel for the people of Neduntheevu.

The discussion was attended by MP Sivagnanam Shritharan, the Chairman of the Neduntheevu Pradeshiya Sabha Mr. S. Sathiyavarathan, the Vice Chairman, and other honorable members.
