Our guest Weiping ,was thrilled discover “The Book Thief” and “Cleopatra” in the shelves in our unit - two books she had read in Chinese when back home.

We had a long conversation about the books online, using google translate. A few excerpts:

W: Took a look at some of the books on your bookshelf. There is translated versions in China of “The Book Thief” and “Cleopatra”, and I really enjoy reading them!

A: I have read “The Book Thief” but yet to read “Cleopatra”.

W: “The Collection of Jack London’s Short Stories” - This is the book I usually keep by my bedside; I never tire of reading it!

W: I especially like the characters in the book and the clever Buck. His short stories, such as “Under the Deck Awnings” and “Love of Life,” are also deeply moving.

W: “Sea Wolf” and “Marty Eden” are also fantastic! If you can also browse “Sailor on Horseback,” a book about Jack London written by the renowned biographer O. Henry, you will gain a deeper understanding of Jack London.
