Rebuilding Hope After Cyclone Ditwah – Supporting Our Students
Cyclone Ditwah left a devastating impact on Sri Lanka, paralyzing the economy and forcing communities to rebuild inch by inch. In this hour of need, the generosity of our donors has been nothing short of extraordinary. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each one who came forward to support us.
Our education support project, originally planned for 4,000 students in Ampara and Maha Oya, had to be postponed due to the cyclone. We are now pleased to share that from 15–17 January, we will visit these areas and distribute essential school items to nearly 4,000 students in remote schools. Many of these children have been directly affected by Cyclone Ditwah, and thanks to the kindness of our donors, they will be blessed with the supplies they need to continue their education.
With the generosity and support of many donors, we have been able to extend our reach and support nearly 4,500 students during this critical time.
Last month, together with our major donor for this project, we visited a school in Matara and distributed school essentials to its students. During this visit, the donor also pledged to support the establishment of a computer lab for the school—a project we hope to implement very soon.
The generosity of our donors will enable Tarana to not only provides school essentials but also helps parents lessen their burden and ensure their children’s education continues uninterrupted. Together, we are rebuilding lives, restoring hope, and shaping brighter futures.
