NBRO Officials Inspect KMTC Canal Damage Following Cyclone Impact 🌏🌪️⛈️
Senior officials from the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) conducted a field visit to the Kaluganga–Moragahakanda Transfer Canal (KMTC) on April 23, 2026, to assess recent structural damage.
The visit, facilitated by project officials and the engineering team, focused on a section of the open canal that collapsed בעקבות the severe weather conditions brought by Cyclone Ditwah in late November 2025.
During the inspection, NBRO experts carefully evaluated the affected area, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the extent and nature of the damage. Their observations will play a crucial role in determining the most suitable technical solutions.
NBRO is expected to provide detailed recommendations for the restoration of the damaged canal section in the near future. In the meantime, KMTC technical teams are working closely with NBRO to ensure swift and effective remedial action.
