From Wheels to Wisdom: TM Bikers Malaysia and MFCD Empower Cyclone-Affected Students

The TM Bikers Malaysia team of Telekom Malaysia Berhad joined hands with the Muslim Foundation for Culture and Development (MFCD) for a special initiative titled “From Wheels to Wisdom” to empower the students of Al Nasser College, Colombo 14. This initiative was organized under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of TM Bikers in conjunction with the TM Bikers Ride to Sri Lanka 2026.

The special distribution ceremony was held at the school premises on 07 May 2026 in the presence of the President of TM Bikers Malaysia, Mr. H. J. Rehan, Honorary Secretary Mr. H. J. Zaimi, Chief of Mission Mr. T. N. Harris, along with other members of the TM Bikers Malaysia team and the management team of MFCD. A total of 220 students of Al Nasser College, who were severely affected by Cyclone Ditwah, received much-needed stationery packs under this Community Outreach Programme focusing on children’s welfare and basic needs support.

In disaster contexts, MFCD prioritizes extending support to the most vulnerable segments of communities, including children who face immense challenges in continuing their education during the post-disaster period. This partnership with the TM Bikers Malaysia team of Telekom Malaysia Berhad reflects MFCD’s continued commitment to supporting Cyclone Ditwah-affected communities in Sri Lanka and empowering them to return to normalcy with dignity and hope.

Restoring Health & Strength in Disaster-Affected Communities 🩺

A Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening programme was successfully conducted in Gampola in February 2026, reaching over 260 individuals from communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah in Kandy District. Gampola was among the areas severely impacted by flooding and landslides during the disaster. We were honored by the presence of Go Igarashi, Director of Church World Service Japan, who witnessed the programme and engaged with the community.

Special emphasis was placed on older adults, particularly those above 60 years, ensuring they received priority care. The screening included a comprehensive range of services:
✔️ Blood and urine tests
✔️ Blood pressure monitoring
✔️ ECG and BMI assessments
✔️ Family medical history reviews
✔️ Eye examinations
✔️ Breast cancer screening for women

Based on the findings, participants received individual medical consultations, necessary prescriptions, and referrals to nearby government health facilities for further treatment. Basic medications were also provided on-site for minor conditions.

✨ We are committed to rebuilding healthier lives and stronger communities, one step at a time.
