The Rt Hon. Lord Marland of Odstock, Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise & Investment Council (CWEIC), met with Mr Sarva Ameresekere, Group Chairman of George Steuart & Company, yesterday in Colombo for a high-level discussion on advancing Commonwealth business partnerships.

Mr Ameresekere was joined by Mrs Varuni Amunugama Fernando, Group Director, and Mr Eran Ranasinghe, Managing Director of George Steuart Health. The engagement was held at the iconic Boardroom of The Steuart by Citrus - &Co Pub and Kitchen, reflecting George Steuart & Company’s role as a Strategic Partner of CWEIC.

Accompanying Lord Marland were Mr Niro Cooke and Ms Pamela O’Leary, Board Members of CWEIC; Prof. M. Asif Chaudry, CWEIC Advisory Board Member & Robotic Cancer Surgeon at The Royal Marsden; and Mr Deshan Gonawela, CWEIC’s Country Director for Sri Lanka. The visit underscored CWEIC’s commitment to fostering strategic collaboration with local partners and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s growing significance within the Commonwealth’s economic and investment landscape.

It was a pleasure welcoming our long-standing partner from Japan, Mr. Fujimoto of Asia Shokuhin Co., Ltd., along with Mrs. Fujimoto, to the George Steuart Teas Factory in Thalwatta, Kelaniya.

The visit offered an opportunity to slow down over a cup of original Ceylon tea, in the company of the George Steuart team, including Mr. Sarva Ameresekere - Group Chairman of George Steuart & Co , Mr. Dai Pathmanathan - Managing Director of George Steuart Teas, Mr. Amithpriya Liyanage - Director Finance, and senior members of the George Steuart Teas team.
