📌 What is SSCL in Sri Lanka?
SSCL (Social Security Contribution Levy) is a tax introduced by the Sri Lankan government from 1st October 2022. It mainly applies to businesses based on their turnover.
✅ Current SSCL Rate: 2.5%
Businesses involved in importing, manufacturing, services, wholesale, and retail trading may be required to register and pay SSCL if their turnover exceeds the required threshold.
💡 Example:
If a company has a turnover of Rs. 10 million, the SSCL payable would be Rs. 250,000.
SSCL returns are filed quarterly through the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
Many businesses now include SSCL together with VAT and service charges in customer invoices and bills.
