‘ HATHA-RATH-MAL ’ ceiling / wall sculpture
The four-petaled pattern is often called a Hathariya or Hathara-peththiya (literally “four-petal”) in Sri Lankan architecture and decorative arts.
In ancient Sinhalese culture and Buddhist art, the four-petal flower is a stylized, geometric representation of the lotus (nelum) or water lily (manel).
It represents stability, balance and the four cardinal directions grounding Buddhist concepts of purity within a geometric form.
Our interpretation of this ancient cultural symbol is meant to ground the space in which you choose to display it by blending the past and the present with the future reflecting outwards engulfed in a wondrous display of light and shadows.
