MIT's Mini Cheetah robots aren't just solitary creatures, the school's Biomimetics department showcased the remote-controlled machines back-flipping out of leaf piles, kicking soccer balls and having friendly tussles. MIT is building a fleet to lend out examples for research projects to help lead them to perform hazardous work such as search-and-rescue and other efforts that might just save human lives.

MIT's CSAIL (Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory) has come up with a dice-like M-Block robots, which can spin, flip and identify each other using barcodes. Each block contains a flywheel inside spinning at 20,000 rpm, along with permanent magnets on each edge and face allowing them to leap, crawl and spin along using angular momentum, then clip onto other M-Block's magnetically.
