When justice already has a guardian, do we really need a duplicate?

This article questions the push to create a separate Independent Prosecution Office while Sri Lanka’s Attorney General’s Department already holds the constitutional mandate to prosecute. Instead of building a parallel system with overlapping powers, it argues we should strengthen the AG’s Department with better funding, training, and modern case management without risking confusion, conflicts, and loss of public trust in the rule of law.
