Bilaal Marikar and Januda Perera (myself) took part in the Brown Mosten International Client Consultation Competition 2025, representing Sri Lanka and emerged winners out of 23 global national teams! The competition is the foremost international competition for Client Consultation and this is the first time Sri Lanka has won the competition in it’s 40+ year history.
This is a win that took a village. We are super grateful for our coach Senuri and all the support we received from college and the Moot Court Bench in our journey to the international rounds. The competition took place at the University of Glasgow, Scotland and the entire experience was nothing short of surreal! The hospitality of the hosts made us feel so much at ease and ready to take on the competition. We met and made friends with law students from around the world, many of whom we are still in touch with!
The highlight for me was the night on which the semi-finals break was announced. Everyone was dressed in their cultural attire and everyone had so much fun learning about each other’s cultures. The semi-finalists were announced and we were beyond elated to see that Sri Lanka had made it through! Then it was time for the Ceilidh-a traditional Scottish dance where everyone learns the moves on the go. Dancing to Scottish tunes in sarongs will always be a core memory for us! The semi-finals were nerve wrecking but we stuck to the basics and performed. We made it to the finals alongside the New Zealand and Canadian teams who had also performed exceptionally well.
The finals were open for all to watch and it was quite the experience! The feedback session and the announcement of the winners followed shortly afterwards. Surreal is the one word I could think of to capture what we felt when we were announced as the Champions! The competition came to an end with the Closing Ceremony that same night and we were presented with the Brown-Mosten shield for the Champions amidst a cheer from all the teams!

Sri Lanka Law College Excels at the SLIIT 7’s Invitational Hockey Tournament 2025!
The Sri Lanka Law College men’s and women’s hockey teams showcased their strength, skill, and solidarity at the SLIIT Hockey 7’s Tournament 2025, an invitational inter-university hockey tournament organized by the Physical Education & Sports Unit of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. The tournament took place on the 28th August at the SLIIT Grounds, Malabe, from 8:00 AM onwards, bringing together teams from leading higher education institutions for a thrilling day of competition and camaraderie.
The Men’s Team, captained by Chandu Ranatunge, featured Chathdinu Weerasooriya, Nandasekaran Yashvanthan, Roshen Perera, Dulsara Ranasinghe, Yohan Ranasinghe, and Randheera Herath. The team delivered an outstanding performance, securing two impressive victories against NSBM and SLTC, while also battling their way to a well-earned draw against the unbeaten SLIIT B side.
The Women’s Team, led by Captain Tiani Goonewardene, was represented by Dinara Muthugala, Vinuri Ambegoda, Shashika de Silva, Dilhani Seneviratne, and Tenuki Samaranayake. Demonstrating confidence and composure on the field, the team advanced to the qualifiers, securing a notable victory against CINEC Campus before meeting NSBM in the subsequent round.
Beyond the final scores, the tournament became a stage for growth, unity, and resilience. Its conclusion marked not merely the end of a day’s play, but the beginning of a promising new chapter for Law College hockey.
We extend our warmest wishes to both teams for continued progress and success in the seasons ahead!
