CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS.
The Upton Gardens Girls Centre is beginning to conceptualise a suspension program to support secondary school girls who are on out-of-school suspension. We have the therapuetic environment to keep them safe, while addressing the challenges which might have led to suspension.
The Centre understands the challenges of working parents when children are place on suspension and may be left at home alone unsupervised.
Unfortunately, our funding is very tight, and while we are waiting to determine how we find the additional funds, our children cannot wait.
We are therefore calling for a cadre of volunteers. We will provide orientation and training.
We are looking for persons who have a teaching or social services background. Please contact the Director at [email protected], 4525094 (9am to 4pm) if you are interested.
