Cataract surgery does more than clear a cloudy lens, it also gives you the chance to choose how you see afterwards. The artificial lens implanted during surgery is called an intraocular lens (IOL) and there are different options.

A monofocal IOL is set for one main distance (usually far). Vision is usually sharp for driving and outdoor activities, but many patients still need glasses for reading and near work.

A multifocal IOL is designed with rings or zones that provide focus at more than one distance, which can reduce the need for glasses for both far and near tasks in carefully selected patients.

At AEC, your surgeon will discuss your daily activities, visual priorities and eye measurements to help you choose the lens type that best fits your lifestyle and eye health.

Color vision deficiency isn’t always obvious. Many people live with it for years without realizing it affects daily tasks.

Common clues include difficulty distinguishing traffic lights, confusing colors in maps or charts, trouble matching clothes, or struggling with color-coded school and work materials.

In children, it may appear as learning difficulties or mistakes that are often misunderstood. Early detection helps with adaptation, safety, and proper guidance at school and work.

At AEC, color vision testing is simple and can provide clear answers for both children and adults.
