On Monday March 5, 2018, the (NOU) organized a workshop with the importers in , where we discussed in brief the amended Decree 3277/2016. The main reason for the workshop was to remind the importers of the importance of submitting the requested forms and reports on time to ensure a smooth process. In addition, importers were informed about the in cooling technologies and the effect of some gases on the . The workshop aimed for a better monitoring and controlling system of imports of ODSs in accordance with the guidelines of the and its amendments. The cooperation, continuous communication, and partnership between the NOU and the importers is crucial for better implementation of the guidelines towards the national strategy of phase out in the country.

The National Ozone Unit (NOU) of Lebanon at the Ministry of Environment and the UNDP Country Office, held the first thematic meeting to initiate the implementation of “The cooling energy efficiency programme in Lebanon” initiative. The project is funded by the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Programme (KCEP) and will be implemented through UNDP country and regional offices.
The meeting was organized during the period from 13-15 February 2018, by the NOU of Lebanon in coordination with UNDP Country Office, attended by Mr. Dan Hamza-Goodacre, Executive Director of KCEP Secretariat, Mr. Etienne Gonin, UNDP Regional Istanbul Office, and Dr. Walid Chakroun, Board Member of KCEP and Professor at Kuwait University.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Hassan Harajli, CEDRO Project Manager, Mr. Vahakn Kabakian, Climate Change Advisor, Mrs. Lea Abou Jaoude, Climate Change Project Manager, and Mr. Jil Amin, DREG Project Manager.
