The i Vision Circular from BMW may not be among the automaker's highest profile concept cars of the past two years, but it has big implications for where the industry is headed in sustainable technologies. The small car — envisioned for around 2040 — was created entirely with recycled materials and bio-based raw materials. The body is recycled aluminum that uses no paint. No chrome is used. The tires are made of cultivated natural rubber that's sustainable. Material bonding throughout the car is achieved through new joining techniques that allow efficient dismantling at a later stage. BMW is already pressing its supply chain to lift its recycled and reused materials content level, which currently stands at 30 percent of content.

U.K.-based startup Nyobolt claims to have achieved a breakthrough in battery tech that could allow EVs to charge in less than 10 minutes.

Nyobolt announced this week that it had unlocked the "holy grail" of battery tech, enabling EVs to charge "fully and repeatedly" in less than 6 minutes. And the startup claims this tech will go into production starting in 2024.

Volvo will go fully electric globally by 2030, ‘no ifs, no buts'
50% of Volvo Cars’ sales volume to be fully electric by 2025.
Volvo Cars has committed to putting one million electrified cars on the road by 2025.

By 2030, Volvo will “phase out any car in its global portfolio with an internal combustion engine, including hybrids,” the company said in its statement on Tuesday.
