CNRS Lebanon

📌On Wednesday, 20 May 2026, a high-level coordination meeting was held between the National Council for Scientific Research–Lebanon (CNRS-L) and the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, chaired by Ms. Alessandra Viezzer, Head of Cooperation and Minister Counsellor, in the presence of Dr. Chadi Abdallah, Secretary-General of CNRS-L, and representatives of several European countries.

🔷The meeting was dedicated to presenting the latest updates on damages and losses across all sectors in Lebanon resulting from the ongoing Israeli aggressions, as well as reviewing the monitoring, assessment, and reporting activities led by CNRS-L. During the meeting, Dr. Chadi Abdallah delivered a presentation highlighting the scientific methodologies and advanced tools adopted by the National Center for Natural Hazards and Early Warning (NCNE) in assessing impacts on infrastructure, the environment, agriculture, public services, and affected areas across the country.

🟦زار السيد عمران رضا، المنسق المقيم ومنسق الشؤون الإنسانية للأمم المتحدة في لبنان، المجلس الوطني للبحوث العلمية. حيث التقى بالأمين العام الدكتور شادي عبدالله. وتم خلال اللقاء بحث الجهود الوطنية المشتركة في تقييم الأضرار والخسائر التي يقودها المجلس على المستوى الوطني، إضافة إلى سبل تعزيز دعم منظومة الأمم المتحدة لهذه الجهود.

🔷وشكّل الاجتماع فرصة لاستعراض التقييم العام للخسائر وتعزيز التعاون القائم بين الأمم المتحدة والمجلس، مع التطرق إلى آفاق تطوير مبادرات مشتركة وشراكات استراتيجية مستقبلية. كما شملت الزيارة جولة في المركز الوطني للمخاطر الطبيعية والإنذار المبكر، حيث اطّلع الوفد على المنهجيات المعتمدة في تقييم الأضرار باستخدام صور الأقمار الصناعية وتقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي، إضافة إلى خطة العمل التي ينفذها الفريق منذ بداية الحرب، بما في ذلك آليات جمع البيانات وتحليلها وتنظيمها لضمان دقة المعلومات وتحديثها بشكل مستمر.
