The 7th General Assembly of the Arab Forum for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (AFRPD) took place in Beirut, Lebanon, from May 1st to 4th, 2019. This assembly, attended by members and representatives from countries including Tunisia, Sudan, Syria, Palestine, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, and Lebanon, presented national reports, general administrative and financial reports, and formulated a new strategic plan for the upcoming three to five years.

This initiative seeks to usher in a transformative era, ensuring the right of persons with disabilities to robust social protection policies and crisis response programs across Arab nations. The project endeavors to catalyze collaborative efforts among Arab governments, private entities, civil society stakeholders, and international organizations within the region.

Our project "Empowering Political Participation of Persons with Disabilities in Arab Countries: is in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute in Washington, USA, this project focuses on Tunisia, Lebanon, Libya, and Morocco, with a special emphasis on individuals and organizations of persons with disabilities in Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon.

our vision is to create an inclusive Arab region that empowers all marginalized communities, enabling people with disabilities to fully exercise their rights.

Through advocacy, we drive the alignment of national laws with the CRPD, human rights treaties, and the Sustainable Development Agenda placing disability inclusion at the heart of sustainable development and ensuring that no one is left behind!

AFRPD is a platform that holds a representation status of persons with disabilities in the Arab region. We hold the representation status of the regional office of Disabled People's International (DPI) in the Arab World.

We aim to strengthen the disability movement in the Arab region and advocate for the rights of disabled men and women as outlined in the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
