إليكم ملخص عملنا في منطقة الجنوب خلال الأشهر الثلاثة الماضية.

The Lebanese Union for People with Physical Disabilities continues, through its 2026 Emergency Program, to provide support and essential assistance to displaced persons with disabilities and those who have remained in their communities throughout the war and its aftermath.

Here is a summary of our work in South Lebanon over the past three months.

LUPD Participates in Lebanon Universal Acceptance Day 2026
The Lebanese Union for People with Physical Disabilities (LUPD) participated in the Opening Ceremony and High-Level Forum of Lebanon Universal Acceptance Day 2026, organized by the Lebanese Cyberspace Association in collaboration with UNESCO and ICANN, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ghassan Salamé, Minister of Culture of Lebanon.

The event took place on 28 May 2026 at Le Gray Hotel in Beirut and brought together representatives from government institutions, international organizations, academia, the technical community, the private sector, media, and civil society to discuss the importance of an inclusive and accessible digital future.
Representing LUPD, President Sylvana Lakkis delivered an intervention on “Inclusive Internet Accessibility in Lebanon,” highlighting the barriers that people with disabilities continue to face in accessing digital services, information, education, employment opportunities, and humanitarian assistance.

During her intervention, Lakkis emphasized that digital accessibility is not merely a technical consideration but a fundamental human rights issue linked to equality, dignity, participation, and non-discrimination. She also called for stronger implementation of accessibility standards, inclusive digital transformation policies, affordable access to assistive technologies, and the meaningful participation of people with disabilities in shaping Lebanon’s digital future.
LUPD reaffirms its commitment to advocating for an inclusive digital environment where all people with disabilities can access information, services, and opportunities independently and equally.

“Digital exclusion today is a form of social exclusion. A society that rebuilds digitally without including people with disabilities risks reproducing inequality in new forms.
